Last Sliver of Sunset is a sound collage that was inspired by both a photo and a poem by novelist/poet Nina Loard.
Nina used a gorgeous photo of hers showing the sun sinking through trees on a beach and reflecting on the water as inspiration for a short poem:
"I stretch within
The last sliver
Of sunset
As evening
Descends
And dream
Of things
That were
Once
And have
Never been"
I was very inspired by the gauzy quality of the words and the beauty of the photo. I let both speak to me in my studio one evening, and the product was pretty much what you hear on this track. I tried to capture birds swooping, wind whistling, the sound of the ocean waves and the floor of the sea rumbling, in many of the sounds and melodies in the track.

Great mix of 80s / 90s synth sounds, electronics and guitar.
Love the pairing of Richard and Jill's vocals.

This is an excellently crafted album, there are some great bass and synth sounds along with some excellent piano and guitar riffs.
Odd Common blends these different elements into songs with a subtle movement and great layering of sounds.
There's a very modern feel to the production but equally an excellent 80s synth vibe too. Andrulian
