“Picaflor” is one Spanish word for “hummingbird”, but is also Spanish slang for a fickle, flirtatious man. The title comes from the song’s fluttering melody and other buzzing noises heard in the track. I created some of the lead parts using Propellerhead’s Figure app on my iPhone, which allowed me to render the sound files to wav format and import to my computer. Then the individual parts were enhanced and arranged into a song. This one taught me a lesson in the benefit of economy after I realized I had recorded far too many tracks, which made mixing the song a nightmare.
This EP was created using guitar, delay pedals and a looper pedal. It has an excellent experimental feel with great use of delay, layered sounds and feedback and Roofhare gets a huge range of sounds from the guitar. I really like the development of rhythmic sounds and interplay between the different delay effects which gives an ambience with a darker edge and great tension at times. Andrulian
